As some of you may recall, a few months ago I asked for
your opinions on Soldat's weapon balance, and many of you were kind enough to provide your input. Unfortunately, over the past couple of months I've been pretty busy with offline matters and so I haven't been able to pursue the community balance idea as much as I would have liked. As it stands now, the final release for Soldat 1.5.1 is
supposedly close, so there's not a whole lot of time to get a working WM in order by the means that I had planned. Regardless, I still very much want the community involved in determining how the final balance turns out.
In pursuit of that goal, I've recently uploaded the latest 1.5.1 beta weapon mod to the SNAG servers, where I hope that you guys will give it a thorough testing. Following a few requests, I'm also trying to put the beta WM onto the Australian gather servers as well.
It's very important that we get a good balance for the next version, so I implore
all of you to playtest the 1.5.1 beta WM over the coming days. Once you've got a feel for it,
please post your thoughts and opinions in this topic. The beta balance is
not final, and the beta team
will take the input in this topic into account when compiling the actual 1.5.1 WM.
If you're curious, you can find the weapons.ini for the 1.5.1 beta WM
here (updated, see below), but please don't provide any input unless you've actually played games with the balance. How the changes appear in weapons.ini and how they actually play out in game are very different.
Remember, we'll likely be stuck with whatever balance we come up with for a long time, so let's not screw it up!
