First and foremost, many of the rules will be the same as the regular season SCTFL rules, which can be found here. This includes server settings, multiclanning rules, most miscellaneous rules, and so forth. The rules that are different or are especially notable are outlined below.
Administrative Rights- The Administrators of this league have the right to make any decision which they feel is necessary to keep the league running smoothly and without problems.
- In the situation where an Administrator is wrong, misinformed, subjective, prejudicial, or incompetent, check the rule above
- The administrators have the right to spectate any match. If an administrator asks you for information to a server, you must give it to him.
Server SettingsYOU MUST USE THE FOLLOWING SETTINGS IN THE SERVERS THAT YOU ARE USING FOR MATCHES! Use IRC or the web checker to verify that the
server is monitored, use /info in-game before starting the match to ensure that scripting is disabled, and look closely at the server messages when you first connect to be sure that BE is enabled.
- Battleeye MUST be enabled
- Scripting MUST be disabled
- Server MUST be monitored
Cup Format- The cup will be run in a
Double Elimination style bracket. Double elimination means that each clan must lose two matches to be eliminated. To repeat,
two losses and you're out.
- There will be a "Winners Bracket" which plays basically the same way any normal knockout bracket would play. Each clan that loses in the Winners Bracket will get dropped down to the "Losers Bracket," which also plays in normal knockout format. Clans that lose in the Losers Bracket are eliminated from the tournament. The final match will consist of the winner of the Winners Bracket playing the winner of the Losers Bracket. For an example of this in play, check
this illustrative bracket. Note that if the clan from the Winners Bracket loses against the clan from the Losers Bracket in the final match, a
second final will be played between the same two clans, because each clan will only have lost once by that point.
- The cup will consist of a maximum of 32 clans.
Clans will receive priority to join the cup in the following order: 1. Matches played in SCTFL 15
only if your clan has played 40 or more total matches
2. Cup sign-up order
For example, assume that four clans sign up. Clan A played 92 matches in SCTFL 15. Clan B played 55 matches in SCTFL 15. Clan C played no matches in SCTFL 15 but signed up before clan D who played 15 matches in SCTFL 15. The priority order to get a spot in the cup will be Clan A, Clan B, Clan C, and Clan D.- In a situation where a clan dies/doesn't play its match in the first round of the cup, we will replace them with the next clan that has priority outside of the cup.
DeadlinesMatches must be played by their deadline date. We can tolerate it if you are late by one or two days with valid reasons, but delaying a match too much will result in a forfeit. The deadlines will be as follows:
Winners Bracket
Round 1: January 25 - January 31
Round 2: February 1 - February 7
Round 3: February 8 - February 21
Round 4: February 22 - March 7
Round 5: March 7 - March 21
Losers Bracket
Round 1: February 1 - February 7
Round 2: February 8 - February 14
Round 3: February 15 - February 21
Round 4: February 22 - February 28
Round 5: Match 1 - March 7

Match RulesThese match rules are aimed at being fair to both teams while preventing any possible problems/conflicts.
- Each team will pick 2 maps before the match begins. The teams will also choose the server for their maps. Side will be picked by the team that did not choose server + map.
- The team which has won the most rounds after 4 total rounds wins the match. The match will not always go to all 4 rounds though. For example, if a clan wins the first 3 rounds, they have already won the match. On the same token, if a clan wins 2 rounds and ties the third, it is impossible for the opposing clan to win or tie after 4th round, therefore that clan has already lost the match and a fourth round is not necessary.
- The rounds can be played in any order. However, if there is any disagreement, the team with the higher priority in the cup will choose whose map is played first. After that, clans will alternate playing each other's maps until all 4 rounds are played.
- Neither team can pick a map more than once. A clan can pick the same map as their opponent picks. For example, Clan A picks ctf_B2b and ctf_Laos, Clan B can pick ctf_B2b and ctf_Voland. However, they can't pick ctf_B2b twice.
IN THE CASE OF A TIE AFTER 4 ROUNDS, THE FOLLOWING RULES APPLY- Each clan will choose 1 extra map, so a total of 2 more rounds will be played. Server and side selection rules from above still apply. If there is still a tie after these 2 extra rounds have been played, each clan will again pick another map and the process will be repeated until the tie is broken.
- A clan's tiebreaker maps cannot be one of the 2 maps they originally picked for the match. A clan cannot pick the same tiebreaker map twice either.
Miscellaneous Rules- If there is any disagreement whatsoever during a cup match, we suggest that the clans contact an admin immediately and resolve the problem with the admin rather than attempting to resolve it themselves. This will ensure that problems are kept to a minimum.
- Screenshots and demos are MANDATORY for EVERY PLAYER. This is to once again ensure problems are kept to a minimum. If you do not record a demo, and a problem happens during a round, we may punish you or make you play that round over, depending on the situation.
- We suggest that clans prohibit spectators during matches. The only people that should be spectating are SCTFL admins. This is to quell any potential ghosting situations.
Multiclanning- Each player can only be on the roster for ONE CLAN FOR THE DURATION OF THE CUP. What this means is that if Player A is on the roster of Clan X when the cup starts, he cannot play for any other clan in the playoffs, even if he didn't play a cup match with clan X. In addition, no new players can be added to a clan's roster once the cup formally begins.
Server Selection-In case where both clans are from the same continent, they have the right to decide which server to use as their home server, Soldatcentral & Selfkill for European clans and eC and U13 for North American clans.
-In case of intercontinentals between NA clans and European clans, European clans have the right to request either eC or U13 server to be used on American side while American clans have the right to request either Soldatcentral or Selfkill server to be used on European side.
-In the case of intercontinentals between European clans and Australian clans, Europeon clans can use either eC or U13 server on their own maps, while Australian clans can use either eC or U13 servers on their own maps.
-In the case of intercontinentals between North American clans and Australian clans, the North American clans can use either eC or U13 on their own maps, while Australian clans can use any 100 Mbit Australian server for their own maps as long as they comply with SCTFL server settings.
-If mixed Clan "A" uses players that force opposing Clan "B" to play on a neutral server for Clan B's map, then Clan A must use those same players (or players from the same continent) for their own maps OR, if no such players are available, relinquish the choice of server for their own maps. For example, if Clan A uses three South American players and forces Clan B (who is entirely European) to play on a neutral North American server for Clan B's map, Clan A is not permitted to exchange those three South Americans for three North Americans and continue playing on the North American server for their own maps. If a mixed clan does not intend on using players from the same continent throughout the match, they should make this clear to the other clan before the game begins. Punishments may be dealt to players or clans who intentionally deceive other clans in order to gain an unfair advantage in this manner.
IMPORTANT: If a situation like this occurs and cannot be resolved between the clans, the administrators should be consulted immediately to resolve the issue.
We trust in sportsmanship and that you will use a server which is fair for both clans. If your opposing team lags on one server, use a server where there is as little lag as possible. Don't pick a server which simply does not work well enough for one clan.
