SRL 18 Rules

The Season:

* Before signing your clan up for the league, please make sure you have read all the rules and understand them. If you have any questions or concerns, contact one of the administrators or post in the forums.

* The season will be free play similar to the system in SRL5 and previous seasons. (for more information see League Format below).

Server Settings:

* Each round will be 10 minutes long.
* All guns are enabled.
* Tiebreaker map is ctf_Steel for the 1st half of the Freeplay, ctf_Rotten for the 2nd half of the Freeplay and the Playoffs
* Frequency is set to 3.
* Respawn time 3. Maximum respawn 4.
* Maximum grenades 2.
* No power-ups/bonuses except health and normal grenades.
* Friendly fire ON.
* Ping kick must be set to 400.
* Stationary guns are disabled.
* Maximum flag capture limit is 6.
* Realistic Mode is on.
* Game Style is Capture The Flag (CTF).
* Bullet Time Effect is off.
* Sniper Line is Disabled.
* Minimap is Disabled.
* HealthCooldown is 1.
* Scripting is Disabled.
* BattlEye is Enabled.
* MSAC isn't necessary to be enabled since it doesn't exist anymore but as soon as we get a new anticheat, it damn right has to be enabled

League Format:

* The league format this season will be free play, designed to give as much freedom to clans as possible. Clans will organize matches themselves.

* For people not to get confused, we are going to state this first. The tiebreaking maps are ctf_Steel/ctf_Rotten and they will not be played until the third round is needed.

* The first part of the season will consist of free play where every clan will be put into a large group with every other clan. After this part of the season is over, the top 8 clans will advance into a playoff bracket.

* To play a league match, a clan simply has to ask another clan for a match and the other clan must agree that it is being played for the league. The team which asks for the match is the "Challenger". The other team is considered the "Home team". After the first match, clans will rotate the "Home" and "Challenger" team tags. Thus, if clan A plays clan B in 2 matches, and if clan A was "Home" in match 1, then in match 2 clan A will be automatically be the challenger.

* Each clan can play the same opposing clan only 4 times in each stage of freeplay. Any extra matches which are played between these 2 clans will be voided. (The freeplay will last 18 days, each stage lasting 9 days)

* A clan will receive Bonus Points for their first match against every other clan in the league. They will not receive bonus points for their second, third or fourth match against the same clan. In other words, If a clan only plays the same opposing clan once during the course of freeplay, this match will receive bonus points. If a clan plays the same opposing clan twice, three times, or four times during freeplay, only the first match between these 2 clans will receive bonus points.

* For a match to be considered intercontinental, the winning clan can use only 1 player from the same continent as the losing clan on the losing clan's server.

* Intercontinental matches are worth +1 point to the winner. However, a clan will receive +2 points if they do not use any players from the same continent as the losing clan on the losing clan's server.

* Administrators have the right to change the intercontinental value of a match if they deem it necessary.

* There will be certain dates at which each part of the season will end. These dates will be posted in the forums while the league is running.

There may be minor changes in the future

Match Rules:

* A match is best of 3 rounds.

* Matches have to be at least 3v3. If both clans agree, matches can be anything above 3v3 where both clans start with the same amount of players. No 3v4 play, 4v5 or etc. is allowed unless the match has already started and a player has dropped.

* The winner of a round will be determined by who has more flag captures at the end of the round.

* Tiebreaker map is ctf_Wretch for the 1st half of the Freeplay and the Playoffs, ctf_Rotten for the 2nd half of the Freeplay.

* Regarding server selection, we suggest each clan to be honorable and understanding. For example in a situation where a NA clan is playing a European clan, please don't choose a west coast server (NA's) and please don't choose a Polish or east European servers (Euros), since it is possible to make it fairer for the opposing clan by choosing a server which gives them a lower ping and gives you practically the same ping. SRL server list and the rules on how to use them can be found in the forums.

* Each clan will choose 1 map before the match begins. The first map is played on the Home team's server, and this map will be the choice of the Home team. The side on this map is chosen by the Challenger. The second map is played on the Challenger's server, and this map will be the choice of the challenging team. The side on this map is chosen by the Home team.

* A third round will be required in a situation where neither team wins both the first and the second round. In this round, the default map is played, the server is chosen by the Home team, and the side is chosen by the Challenger.

* EXAMPLE ON MAP & SERVER SELECTION: Team A is "Home Team" and Team B is "Challenger". 'Round 1' = Team A picks map, Team A picks server, Team B picks side. 'Round 2' = Team B picks map, Team B picks server, Team A picks side. 'Round 3' = Tiebreak Map, Team A picks server, Team B picks side.

* Maps cannot be played more than once (including the tiebreaker) unless the match is tied in overall result and both clans decide to break one of the tied maps. This means that neither team can pick the tiebreaker map as one of their map choices.

* Only the default CTF maps that come with Soldat are allowed to be chosen, which are ctf_Ash, ctf_B2b, ctf_Blade, ctf_Campeche, ctf_Cobra,  ctf_Crucifix, ctf_Death, ctf_Division, ctf_Dropdown, ctf_Equinox, ctf_Guardian, ctf_Hormone, ctf_IceBeam, ctf_Kampf, ctf_Lanubya, ctf_Laos, ctf_Lava, ctf_Maya, ctf_Mayapan, ctf_MFM, ctf_Nuubia, ctf_Paradigm, ctf_Raspberry, ctf_Rotten, ctf_Ruins, ctf_Run, ctf_Scorpion, ctf_Snakebite, ctf_Steel, ctf_Triumph, ctf_Viet, ctf_Voland, ctf_X and ctf_Wretch.

* Before the round starts, representatives from both teams must make sure that the opposite clan is ready to play. Then the round can begin.

* In between rounds, there can be up to a 5 minutes break in order to organize, strategize, etc. During this period of time, players are to remain in their base.

* The winner of the match is decided by who has won the most number of rounds, as in a best of 3 rounds match.

* If an equal number of rounds has been won by each side at the end of the match, then it results in a tie.

* If a match is tied after three rounds, clans have the option of breaking the tie by replaying one of the tied maps. If the match is still a tie after replaying a map, clans may continue replaying any maps which were originally ties until a winner is determined. If both clans cannot agree which tied map to replay, the match will remain a tie. Only originally tied maps can be replayed! All rounds, including the original maps as well as any replayed maps, should be posted in the match report with screenshots. If a match lasted four rounds, for example, then four rounds should be posted in the match report.

* Substitutes of members that are on their clan ROSTER are allowed. Furthermore, substitutions may be made at any time during the game. In the case of a substitution, the member that is being subbed OUT must leave the game PRIOR to when the member subbing IN arrives into the game. This prevents unbalanced teams during a substitution. As repeated, subs may only be allowed from members on THE ROSTER ONLY. This means that you must update the roster in the forums before you can use a member in a SRL match. You also have to wait for these roster updates to be approved by SRL Helpers before you may actually use the new player.

* Pausing is allowed only in emergency situations. This means if there is afk or there is a disconnect, or a team is having problems with something soldat related, they can pause the game. Excessive Pausing is not allowed.

* Any team winning by forfeit shall receive 4-0 as the scores for all remaining unplayed and unstarted maps. Scores from maps that were played before a clan forfeits will count. If a clan forfeits while a round is running, the other clan will receive a 6-0 score for that round. All prior rules apply here as well, so if the clan beats another clan by forfeit in their first match against that clan, they will receive bonus points.

* Forfeiting a match or a round while it is running because you are sure you will lose is considered unsportsmanlike behavior, and we suggest clans to refrain from doing it.

* Any clan that loses by forfeit will not receive any handicap bonus.

* Clans are not allowed to receive game information normally not provided to them via spectators in the server (known as ghosting). Any clan found to have taken advantage of the information a spectator provides them with will be punished.

Server Selection:

* All SRL matches must be played on servers that we monitor. Any matches that are played on unmonitored servers will be voided. If you have a server and would like it to be monitored, check this post for information. To check whether a server is already monitored, go here.

* The server with the least latency for each player is recommended to be chosen, preferably a neutral server.

* Like stated above, the first round will be played on the Home team's server. The second round is played on the Challenging team's server. The final round is played on the Home team's server. However you can also just play all rounds on the same server if none of the clans has any objections.

* In the case where both clans are from the same continent, they have the right to decide which server to use as their home server. If both clans agree to use the same server for all rounds, than it can be used.

* In the case of Intercontinental matches between European clans and NA clans, European clans have the right to request either Clanplanet, Fracs na.soldatladder or U13 server to be used on American side while American clans have the right to request either Clanplanet eu.soldatladder or Selfkill server to be used on European side.

* In the case of European vs Australian matches or European vs South American matches, each team can play their own maps on any 100 Megabit NA server, however all prior rules apply, such as scripting being disabled and settings must be perfect. In the case where one team cannot find a server with correct settings, the other team will find a server and it will be used for the whole match.

* If mixed Clan "A" uses players that force opposing Clan "B" to play on a neutral server for Clan B's map, then Clan A must use those same players (or players from the same continent) for their own maps OR, if no such players are available, relinquish the choice of server for their own maps. For example, if Clan A uses three South American players and forces Clan B (who is entirely European) to play on a neutral North American server for Clan B's map, Clan A is not permitted to exchange those three South Americans for three North Americans and continue playing on the North American server for their own maps. If a mixed clan does not intend on using players from the same continent throughout the match, they should make this clear to the other clan before the game begins. Punishments may be dealt to players or clans who intentionally deceive other clans in order to gain an unfair advantage in this manner.
IMPORTANT: If a situation like this occurs and cannot be resolved between the clans, the administrators should be consulted immediately to resolve the issue.

* We trust in sportsmanship and that you will use a server which is fair for both clans. If your opposing team lags on one server, use a server where there is as little lag as possible. Don't pick a server which simply does not work well enough for one clan.

* SRL staff have found a sponsor and we suggest that clans use the sponsor's servers for their matches if there is some sort of disagreement regarding lagency and whatnot. The list for these servers can be found on the SRL forums.

* Any servers that are used for SRL matches must have scripting disabled. Server administrators can disable scripting by setting Scripting=0 in server.ini in their server directory. Players can check if scripting is enabled by typing /info in the server.

* Scripting is permitted on the official SRL servers which can be rented from http://rent.sctfl.net. These are currently the only servers on which scripting is allowed.

League and Sign Up Rules:

* Points for games are as follows: 4 Points for a win, 2 Point for a tie, 1 Points for a loss.

* Bonus Points will be the following: +1 Points for a win, +1 Points for a tie, +1 Points for a loss.

* If a position is tied in terms of the same number of points, the clan who has a better cap ratio(Caps Scored/Caps Allowed) gets the higher position. If there is still a tie, the clan who has the better cap difference gets it.

* Each clan can play the same opposing clan only 4 times during one stage of freeplay. Any extra matches that are played between these two clans will be voided, regardless of the outcome.

* Clans must have a minimum of 3 players in order to sign up for SRL. When signing up, we ask the leader of the clan to provide his/her basic contact information. Email address, MSN, ICQ etc. You will also be ask to provide a full member list of your clan to be eligible to compete.

* Clans can sign up at any point during the season before the roster changes close. They are not allowed to play any matches until they have been officially accepted by the SRL Admins.

* The winner of the league will be decided by the championship game following the culmination of the playoff ladder/knockout.

Miscellaneous Rules:

* SRL will mainly share banlists with SCTFL in cases of hacking or other serious offenses. We will also hold the right to issue bans for actions committed outside of SRL league play in cases of hacking. These will be worked on in a case-to-case basis.

* If a player leaves the server at any time, without informing the other clan, the match is to be continued unless both clans agree to wait for the player to return or a substitute to arrive. If a player gets kicked due to server related problems, then the match is to be paused until either the player returns, a substitute arrives, or a different, fully functional server is found.

* A disconnect is when there is either client or mainly server problems. If this is the case, the match will be restarted from the time the disconnect happened remaining and with the scores carried forward.

* If a player joins the server during the middle of a round (e.g. a rejoin or an incoming substitute), the opposing clan has the right to request that the joining player use the "/kill" command in order to initiate respawn time.

* Taking advantage of map bugs is not allowed in this league. For example, using polygon bugs or flying over top of ctf_B2b using minigun/m79. If you see player(s) abusing these map bugs, you should take a screenshot right away and record his/her name. The screenshot will then be reviewed and then action will be taken.

* The use of hacks, trainers, hex editors and anything else to give yourself an advantage over others is strictly prohibited. Anyone caught using hacks is subject to expulsion from the league. We will deal with hackers strictly, even if the hacking occured outside our league. Admins will deal with hacking using a case by case basis.

* Any modifications to soldat which directly prohibit your opponent from performing are disallowed in SRL. Modifications which give you an advantage without directly hurting your opponent are allowed however. The SRL staff reserves the right to make judgment in cases where it is unclear which modifications prohibit your opponents directly and which modifications help you directly. When in doubt, ask one of the administrators before you use the mod. Check directly below for examples on what we mean.

* Making sceneries invisible, deleting sceneries, or anything of that sort which prevents your opponent from hiding are not allowed

* Making the size of weapons larger, making gosteks larger, or anything of that sort which prevents your opponent from hiding are not allowed. Health bar above the head is not allowed.

* Changing the color of grenades, changing the color of bullets, changing the size of bullets, changing textures of maps,  or anything of that sort which directly helps you instead of directly hurting your opponent are allowed

* Once again, if you are in doubt about whether a specific modification is allowed or not allowed, ASK THE ADMINISTRATORS before you use the modification. If you do not ask an administrator and you use an illegal modification, you will be punished. It is your responsibility to find out whether a mod is allowed or not if its not explicitly stated in the rules.

* All players are required to keep screenshots of matches in their computer for the entire league. In the cases where SRL administrators suspect you have used an illegal modification, we may ask you for these screenshots. If you are unable to provide them, you may be punished with a yellow card

* There should be honor among all participants of this league. This means no excessive flaming, spamming, rude or crude remarks, racism, excessive cursing, or otherwise being overly mean to another player. The same is said for in game, also in the forums if it is related to the league. Sportsmanship is also the key to this league, and if you are not, then don't expect to be welcome for long.

* If a dispute occurs, and a screenshot is found to be edited to provide proof of the win, this will NOT be tolerated. Anyone caught doing so will be immediately suspended and banned from participating in the future, no exceptions.

* Handle yourself at all times in an honorable fashion. If you have a disagreement, refrain from "getting mad" and going off on someone. Respect other members and staff, and they will respect you. If a person is reported (with proof) in game, out of game, or wherever, as acting inappropriate, action will be taken. Repeated offences will result in a ban.

* Any occurrences of breaking the rules can result in a number of punishments. Point penalty in the league, a 3-day suspension from playing and posting, a suspension for the rest of the season, or a permanent ban for all future seasons and forum privileges stripped.

* Spectators are allowed if both teams agree.

* All players must play with the names that are on their clan's signup thread/roster page. A player may change their official "registered" name, however this must be done the same way roster changes are done. A player cannot use his new name until it has been officially accepted by the SRL Admins. Once again, all Roster changes will be accepted by SRL Admins as quickly as possibly, usually within 48 hours from the time they are posted.

* If a clan joins the league during the middle of the season, they are not allowed to play any SRL matches until they have been officially accepted by the SRL Admins. All clans will be accepted by SRL admins as quickly as possible, usually within 48 hours from when they join.

* After a match is played, the winning team has 24 hours to report the match. If the match is not reported within 24 hours, then the match will be void. In the case of the Tie, the clans must decide within themselves who will report. Once again, if a match is not reported within 24 hours, the match is void.

* For the final 3 days of SRL's freeplay, clans have ONLY 1 hour to report matches after they have been played. If the matches are not reported within 1 hour on these days, the matches are void.

* If a reporter is accused of adding extra points to his/her clan's totals, the scene will be investigated, and punishments will be sent if needed, ranging from a warning to expulsion from the league.

* Any player who posts a fake match report will be banned from SRL.

Multiclanning Rules:

* Multiclanning (the process of being in more than one clan at the same time) is forbidden.

* Players cannot be in two or more clans which have signed up for the league, or any other arrangement that breaks the spirit of the multiclanning rule.

* When clans sign up for the league, they must write all their members down along with the country each member is from. If a member leaves or a new member arrives, then they must report it in the Roster Change forum.

* The maximum number of clans you can play for in the regular season and playoffs combined is 3, you can only switch clan twice. No player can switch clan after the Freeplay is over. Any player who joins a clan will be a active member of that clan regardless if he/she plays any league matches with the clan.

* Two or more players from the same household who share the same ISP must notify the SRL administrators that they are indeed two distinct players and not one player with two names. Such notification must be given before playing in any matches. In cases where two players from the same household do not notify the administrators, they will be banned for multiclanning, and we will not allow any evidence after the fact that they were actually two different players.

* For the purposes of SRL, two players that play on one computer and have the same IP cannot play for two separate clans at the same time, or they will be banned for multiclanning.

Roster Changing Rules:

* All roster changes must be reported in the official Roster Change forum. If a roster change is not reported and this change is found to be significant, the clan may be penalized.

* If a player joins a clan during the middle of the season, he/she is not allowed to play any SRL matches until the roster change has been officially accepted by the SRL Admins. All Roster changes will be accepted by SRL Admins as quickly as possibly, usually within 48 hours from the time they are posted.

* If a player who is not reported in your roster or has not been accepted by SRL Administrators plays in an official SRL match which your clan wins, the match may be voided.

* In the case of a loss or tie in this situation, the match will be counted even if you do not report the player or the player has not yet been accepted. Your clan may also receive penalty points for using an unreported player. In this case the unreported player will be counted as a member of the given clan by SRL staff. This means that the player can only play for one more clan unless he or she has already played for another clan, which makes it two in total (read the multiclanning rules for details).

* If both clans have unreported players or unaccepted players, the match may be voided, and further penalty points may also be issued.

Playoff Rules:

Most of the rules will be the same as regular season regular season rules. This includes server settings, multiclanning rules and so on.

* Server settings:

* Scripting MUST be disabled
* Server MUST be monitored

* Playoff format:

* The playoffs will be knockout style, 1 loss and you are out. Top 8 clans from freeplay season will advance into the playoffs

* The playoff style will be apply as showed in the picture below:

Rank #1 and #2
Highest and 2nd highest Win %
Worst and 2nd worst Win %
To be randomised

Additional information the the new playoff system: Rank #1 and #2 clans are excluded from the highest/lowest Win% pick. We will pick the highest/lowest win % from the remaining six clans!

* In a situation where a clan dies/doesn't play its match in the first round of the playoffs, we may replace them with the next closest clan from the regular season.

 * The 2 clans which lose in the semifinals this season will play a 3rd place match.

* Match rules:

* Each team will pick 2 maps before the playoff match begins. The teams will also choose the server and side for their maps.

* The team which has won the most rounds after 4 total rounds wins the playoff match. The match will not always go all 4 rounds though. For example, if a clan wins the first 3 rounds, they have already won the match. On the same token, if a clan wins 2 rounds and ties the third, it is impossible for the opposing clan to win or tie after 4th round, therefore that clan has already lost  the match and a fourth round is not necessary.

* The rounds can be played in any order. However, if there is any disagreement, the team with the HIGHER ranking in the regular season will choose whose map is played first. After two maps the clan who is down(e.g. is losing after the first 2 rounds) gets to play their second map on the third round. If no clan is leading after 2 maps the clan who chose first will play their second map on the third round.

* Neither team can pick a map more than once. ctf_Wretch is still the tiebreaker and it's not possible to pick it.

In the case of a tie after 4 rounds, the following rules apply

* The first tiebreaker will be ctf_Wretch. This rule may be somewhat complicated to some people, so please read carefully.

* In the case of a Intercontinental Playoff Match, the clan with the higher ranking will choose to pick EITHER server OR side for the tiebreaker round.

* In the case of a Non-Intercontinental Playoff Match , the clan with the higher ranking will choose side for the tiebreaker round. This rule is obviously assuming that the same server is being used for all rounds.

* In a case where there is still a tie after the tiebreaker round, a sudden death round will be played. The clan with the lower ranking will now have the options about what they want to pick (server or side). 6th round follows the same formula as 5th round except that the team which will cap first is the winner.

* In the rare situation where there is still a tie after the 6th round, the sudden death round is played again, this time with the higher ranked clan getting to make the choice again. This is repeated until one clan has won.

* Misc. rules

* If there is any disagreement whatsoever during a playoff match, we suggest all clans to contact an admin immediately and resolve the problem with the admin rather than attempting to resolve it themselves. This will insure problems are kept to a minimum.

* SCREENS and DEMOS are MANDATORY for EVERY PLAYER. This is to once again ensure problems are kept to a minimum. If you do not record a demo, and a problem happens during a round, we may punish you or make you play that round over, depending on the situation.

* Server selection:

* In case where both clans are from the same continent, they have the right to decide which server to use as their home server, Soldatcentral & Selfkill  for European clans and Fracs and U13 for American clans.

* In case of intercontinentals between NA clans and Europeon clans, European clans have the right to request either Fracs or U13 server to be used on American side while American clans have the right to request either Soldatcentral or Selfkill server to be used on European side.

* In the case of intercontinentals between Europeon clans and Australian clans, Europeon clans can use either Fracs, NA Enesce or U13 server on their own maps, while Australian clans can use either Fracs, Enesce or U13 servers on thier own maps.

* In the case of intercontinentals between North American clans and Australian clans, the North American clans can use either Fracs or U13 on thier own maps, while Australian clans can use any 100 Mbit australian server for their own maps as long as they comply with SRL server settings.

We trust in sportsmanship and that you will use a server which is fair for both clans. If your opposing team lags on one server, use a server where there is as little lag as possible. Don't pick a server which simply does not work well enough for one clan.

SRL Administrative Rights:

* There are many isolated instances which will occur during the course of the season which may not be covered by the rules file above. In all of these cases, the decision of the SRL admins is final and irreversible.

* The Administrators of this league have the right to make any decision which they feel is necessary for the general good of the league.

* In the situation where you think an Administrator is wrong, misinformed, subjective, prejudicial, or incompetent, check the rule above

* Any rule change to the official rules file must be posted as an official announcement, the rule will take effect only after the announcement was made. (meaning we cant punish a clan if we make a rule but they broke that rule before it was made unless it was situational, described by the rules below)

* In a situation where following the rules literally would cause a undeserved unfairness towards any individual or clan, the rule can be modified by the admins for that situation only.

* SRL Administrators have the right to spectate any match.

Any questions about anything here in the rules can be asked via IRC, Forums, or E-mail. If you have a suggestion for a rule to be added, or a rule change, it will be taken into consideration. Rules are also subject to change at any time.

Thank you and good luck.
